Dr. Brian S. Seaman

Chiropractic Sports Specialist

DC, FRCCSS(C), FICC, FCCA

Dr. Seaman is a native Maritimer (Moncton, NB) who attended Dalhousie University prior to commencing his chiropractic studies. He graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Toronto) in 1982 and since then has been in private practice in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) in 1988 and in 2014 he was honoured by the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada), being named as a “Life Member”.

Since graduation, Dr. Seaman has been very active within the Chiropractic profession, including having served on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto for 12 years. He was a committee member of the External Review of CMCC’s Division of Clinical Education in 1995 and the Division of Graduate Studies in 2001.


Dr. Seaman also reviews articles for the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association (JCCA). Dr. Seaman was a contributing author to the Practitioner’s Guide to Whiplash Associated Disorders published in 2000 and also contributed to the development of the Canadian Chiropractic Association’s original Clinical Guidelines for Chiropractic Practice in Canada, (published in 1993). He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board starting in 1997 and served as Chair from 2001 to 2004. Dr. Seaman also served as the Vice President of the Council of the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors (NSCC) for five years (1999-2004).

Dr. Seaman has volunteered at numerous sporting events at the provincial, national and international level. Dr. Seaman was a member of the Chiropractic Health Care Team for Host Medical Services at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. He was also selected to the Core Medical Team for the Canadian athletes who competed at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg in 1999, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

 

Dr. Seaman was also appointed as the Chair of the Medical Services for the 2011 Canada Winter Games (Halifax) the first time a chiropractor has served in this role since the Canada Games began in 1967. He has been a past Chairman for the Sports Medicine Committee for the National Karate Association (Canada) and volunteered at six national championships.

 

Dr. Seaman has held numerous positions within the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) since joining the RCCSS(C) Board when it was chartered in 1984 and served as President for five years. He has remained a member of the RCCSS(C) Board since 1984.


Dr. Seaman is a member of the Federation International Chiropratique Sportive (FICS), the Chair of the Council of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Nova Scotia) and a Board member of the Sports Medicine Council of Nova Scotia.


Dr. Seaman has been a member of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee of the Canadian Sports Centre Atlantic since CSCA’s inception in 1999. Through CSCA, Dr. Seaman provides chiropractic care for Canada’s top athletes. The Halifax Chiropractic Clinic is an Official Service Provider of the CSCA.

During his career, Dr. Seaman has been the recipient of many awards and honours, including the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) “Centennial Award of Excellence” (1995), Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) “Centenary Award” (1996), Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors “Chiropractor of the Year” (1998), “Honourary Member” of CMCC (1999) and the CCA “Award of Merit” (2001).
Dr. Seaman was named as a “Fellow” of the International College of Chiropractors (FICC) in 2002 and “Independent Chiropractor of the Year” (2003) by the publication Canadian Chiropractor.
In 2008 Dr. Seaman was awarded the CCA’s highest honour, the “Medal of Merit”. As such, Dr. Seaman is now acknowledged as a ‘Fellow of the Canadian Chiropractic Association’ (FCCA).”

Dr. Nicholas (Nick) Kobelka

DC

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Kobelka is as a second-generation chiropractor. He first completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba, and continued on to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where he graduated with clinic honours.

 

Dr. Kobelka uses an evidence-based, goal-orientated approach to find the root cause of the individual’s pain and offers patient-centered treatment plans tailored to each person’s unique injury/complaint. Dr. Kobelka’s treatment approaches included manipulation and mobilization, soft tissue therapy, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, rehabilitative exercise, functional integrated acupuncture and structured patient education. 

 

Dr. Kobelka is a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors. Outside the clinic, he enjoys sports, Crossfit, hiking and outdoor activities, and spending time with his friends and family.

PcD (Professional Clinic Dog)

As an essential (and hypoallergenic) member of the team, Allie is a certified in: greeting patients, shaking paws, high fiving, snacking, chasing birds, and sleeping (a lot). You can find her at her personal chair in the reception room.
